Okay, so I have two new scripts, and one I’ve reworked. I’ve edited them, and am ready to create them. However, I’m concerned with my scripting skills. Comic books are like a string of photographs, and I’m not sure I understand photography/screenwriting enough to do more than “establishing shot, mid-shot, close up,” etc. It’s fine when I’m drawing the comic, because I can adjust to suit my needs. However, for a professional artist to work on? I’m not so sure. They would have to lay out the panels themselves on the page, which could be very problematic for them (and it’s not my intention to give them extra work). I’m a decent artist. An amateur, yes, but it works for my comics. In these comics I’m going to try for a more complex, more detailed style than “Muffin and her Sisters”. Also, I don’t think I’ll be publishing them online for free like the other ones. I may have to learn how to sell online pdf’s. I’m thinking drivethrucomics, although there’s a lot of other options, including kindle, amazon, and some others.
This next August I want to get a booth and show off my stuff. Comics, business card, limited prints, maybe t-shirts and buttons. My goal will be to produce enough material to reimburse myself 50% for the booth. That may be unrealistic for a first timer. I have a lot of prep work to do between now and then. Anyway, Lord willing, that’s my desire. It’s not really a goal as it can be frustrated. My goal is to produce those three comics in the next year, and if I have time, work on more than that. It would be nice to do a weekly strip or something that could just be in the simple style. I might could do second issues if there were enough interest. So, develop my audience, develop my cartoons, and go from there.
