Dear Father,
Thank you for this day. Not a lot is going on. Thank you for this day. Jett and I are hanging out. Well, now the pups are out. God, You are holy and good. Please help me have a good day, and guard my register/drawer, so that it balances. I should like to write, but I need to see if Ta. wants to wrap presents this morning.
So I was thinking of Luike’s account of John the Baptist’s and Jesus’ conception. Both Zecharias and Mary had questions for the angel. So why is Zecharias made mute? I think there is a simple explanation. Zecharias was a man and a Levite. So he would have more knowledge of the Torah, the prophets, and the writings. We would expect him to know much more about God, his miracles, and how he acts in history. So Zecharias should’ve known enough about God to believe the angel and not doubt the Gabriel’s word. Mary was a woman, so she was not nearly as educated, and so for her to ask questions of the angel is to be expected. Also, she is “highly favored” so perhaps she receives more grace.
Just what I thought about it. Did you notice that Jesus and John the Baptist are less than a year in age difference? I thought that was kind of cool. All the gospels are beautiful and true accounts, but I especially like Luke, as he is an excellent historian (as we also see in Acts, through archaeology and legal historical proof).
John the Baptist was the “Elijah who was to come” whether he is in the spirit of Elijah. I don’t know that he is Elijah somehow reborn. Maybe it’s speculation ion my part, so I’m not going to argue for that possibility.
Please enjoy reading Luke this Christmas. At least 3 or 4 chapters, or more as it hopefully piques your interest.
Got a question for you. The bible quotes the prophecy about Jesus, “He shall be a Nazarene” so where is that prophecy in the bible?
..
It’s kind of a trick question. Although it’s quoted in the bible, the actual prophecy is not in the Old Testament or the New. It is referenced in the same way as the quote from Enoch in the New Testament.
Happy reading!
