Dear Father,
Thank you for this day. Not a lot is going on. Doing the morning blog post. I guess we are already gearing up for the 2020 election. There are a ton of Democratic candidates, and I believe T. will run again. I have my concerns, but know that You are in control.
I understand that people sin. I sin, sometimes it seems every moment, and I’m not the best person to speak on this, because of my own frailties. However, you can’t live the Christian lifestyle and the homosexual lifestyle together with a proper understanding of scripture. Jesus didn’t preach against homosexuality, but it’s clearly proclaimed as sin in the rest of the New Testament (in several books, not just one). It’s a sin that you have to avoid if you want to be a Christian, a real Christian, who puts God before sexual appetites.
I have raunchy dreams sometime, and they’re not always hetero-erotic. However, I’m a virgin, and when I give that away, if ever, it will, Lord willing, be to a woman I love in a heterosexual monogamous relationship. One marriage, one time, one man and woman, until death do us part. Adultery is a sin, too, and Jesus said that if you remarry before your spouse dies, or you marry someone who has been married before and whose spouse is still living, you are committing adultery. I don’t expect nonbelievers to be moral, but if you claim to be a Christian, you must live by the bible AKA God’s Word. Even the Jerusalem council speaks on sexual immorality. Furthermore, Jesus referenced the marriage covenant as found in Genesis. If we have a historical context, we will soon understand God intends for men and women to be together in a holy covenant, an agreement in which God is the underpin of the relationship. How can you claim to be true to a spouse in a way that dishonors God and His will? It’s like the Hebrews that took Jeremiah to Egypt with them. They said, more or less” We’re going to burn incense and worship the Queen of Heaven” and God told them they would all die except for a few fugitives, that the plague and sword would follow them to Egypt from Judah, where they should have stayed. God’s Word will stand, and anyone who rebels against him (i.e. everyone) will reap what they sow. It’s not karma. It’s that “the wages of sin is death”
I’m not ranting. I’m trying to get Christians to live in accordance with the bible. If you have a problem with this, understand that my standards come from the bible. If you think the bible is hogwash, then you shouldn’t care what I believe. I’m concerned that other people read religious texts that are in error, but it doesn’t offend me.
I believe in the bible, so my worldview is different. Also, the Torah and Quran speak out on homosexuality as well, so we should expect Jews and Muslims to have a similar understanding on this topic, even if they disagree on other issues. A first century Jew or a 7th century Muslim would’ve had the same view as me. Is it old? Yes, but the bible also says, ”Ask for the ancient paths, and ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls,” (Jeremiah 6:26 a)
Those who live by the principles of God’s Word will build their lives on a solid foundation. Those who do not are building on sand. I think you all know the rest of the parable of the builders.
