Now, what is Christianity for? Freedom from the fear of death. Freedom from habitual sins, addiction, destructive behavior. For abundant life, for a relationship with the Father, only possible through Jesus Christ. It’s for redemption, the promise of resurrection in a world free from sadness or pain. It’s about having a mind that is above earthly things. A life that handles materials without holding on to them. About loving your neighbor, speaking truth, making disciples so that more people experience that abundant life.
The bible is the Word of God. It is infallible and without error. If you have a problem with something I say that’s supported by the scriptures, be angry at the bible. No one blames a Jewish person for believing the Torah. No one blames a Muslim for believing the Quran. Of course, no one’s been able to fully suppress or destroy the bible. That does suggest, or perhaps correlate to a supernatural power. It self-references, the only book I know that does that. It was written by many authors, but has the same message and themes throughout. There is more archaeological, legal historical proof, that it is true than any other ancient text. We are finding more and more stuff today that proves it accurate. Luke’s gospel and Acts are particularly in this vein. It’s full of little nuggets of verifiable truth. We don’t have to believe on a blind faith. Even good science supports Christianity. “The things that are seen are made from the things unseen,” i.e. atoms, electrons, subatomic particles. Jesus holds it all together, and He was the means throughout creation was made.
I feel like I’m preaching a bit, but that’s okay. Maybe that’s enough for now.
