So, if you believe the bible, live by it, what does that make you? All kinds of bad. Being aChrist follower may have been easy in the past in America, or at least claiming to be. However, that is changing. The political climate, the media, culture in general thinks you’re a relic, or racist, or a bigot, or homophobic, or Islamophobic. They don’t defend their beliefs. They attack your person. This is called denouncing, or maybe ad hominem, depending on whom you ask. It’s an insult. You speak the truth, you get slammed.
Is it so bad? What about imprisonment? Losing everything you own? Being attacked physically? Tortured? Killed? Maybe it’s time that we as believers toughen up. Jesus said this would happen to His followers. He warned us. So do we cower? No! We continue to hold out the gospel. We continue to live in harmony with the bible, with each other, and stay holy, wholly belonging to God.
““Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”
Trust me, insults, threats, facebook jail, deboosting, are just the beginning. We must pray that we have the strength to endure what is happening to our brothers and sisters all around the world.
Father,
Give us the courage, the wisdom, the power, through Your Spirit, to live boldly, not in fear of those who may do us harm, but a godly fear, and the knowledge that we will see Your Holy Son Jesus soon, probably much sooner than we think or imagine.
In Jesus Name.
Amen.
