Dear Father and the shark movie

Dear Father,

Thank you for this day. Not a lot is going on. I slept much better last night. I went to see a movie with T. today.

So.. I was thinking about the kind of metaphor of shark infested waters. As Christians, we have traversed those waters and made it safely to shore. However, if we probably understand the danger nonbelievers face of not making it to the shore, we will return to the water to help them make it, too.

It’s reminds me of Harriet Tubman’s story. She escaped slavery through the Underground Railroad. Instead of staying in freedom, she chose to return, risking her own freedom and safety and life, and led people to freedom in the North.

Jesus command at the end of Matthew is to make disciples of all nations. So why aren’t we? It’s not a suggestion nor a request. You don’t have to do the reaping of the harvest, the soul winning part. You will have to do the watering, or the readying of the soil. Pray for God to send harvesters into his harvest field, and submit to Him. If he tells you to go, go, or stay, stay. You can also support missionaries. You may not be able to take the gospel to the ends of the earth, but you can support a church or missionary or even support short term mission trips. There are plenty of good charities out there, but if you fixed everyone’s problems but their sin and separation from God, you would still not really be helping them. Without sharing the gospel, somehow, we are not doing our job, we are not obeying the Great Commission. We are not obeying Jesus. I believe that God saves souls. Where he has no missionaries, he sends radio, internet, visions, dreams, but we are entrusted with this task, and we had better be about our Father’s business.
