I’ve been laying the ground work for the campaign, and wondering if I do want to do a podcast, or simply keep it offline. Now, two of my players will probably be online, and I may do separate scenes for them. Not sure yet.
As for the engine itself, I’m thinking it’s not true karma they’re using. For instance, if I use my kiai to enhance my rolls, how is that accumulating karma? Is that a manifestation of a desire being pushed forward against a universal law? And how is it that sublimating or changing destinies reduces it? We’re being rewarded for being indecisive? For not caring about our goals? Is that Buddhist?
I just don’t know. What about good karma and bad karma? I guess karma in that case is always bad. Why do I care so much?
I believe that the bible is the inerrant Word of God. That it’s all true. So I’m having trouble with this world view. The problem is the same with every other religion. As a friend said,”What can I do to appease my god?” They may all believe differently, but essentially it’s about earning your way to rewards and spiritual blessings. It’s works righteousness, “I can earn my way to (God/Allah/Buddha)”
Christianity isn’t like that. Jesus is our righteousness. He is the perfect sacrifice who gives us access to God the Father. He says,” I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father except through me,” It’s pretty exclusive, which is why everyone else has a problem with it.
People don’t want to hear the truth. They respond by being defensive, even when you are speaking in love. Would you want your doctor to tell you that you have cancer? Or give you some gumdrops and send you on the way with,”It’s normal. Do some exercise, eat some healthy food, and you’ll be just fine”
Yet that’s exactly what people say, and exactly what they want to hear.
