So, I was kind of thinking about.. maybe changing the focus of the blog. I like doing the comic one, and the tabletop one, but the personal one? It’s probably not very interesting. So what should I do? Well, I’ve been reading the bible since I was about 14. So, 20 years. Most people never even open the book, let alone have read it cover to cover more than twice, and read it daily.
So I love doing the “Dear Father” thing, but maybe that’s not your thing. I’ll start a journal offline for it, and try to make this more informative.
Today I was looking at Psalm 19.
https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=psalm+19&version=NIV
It begins by stating implicitly that by looking at the stars, the sun, the moon, we have enough knowledge to know that there is one God, and he has divine attributes, including power, wisdom, and creativity unlike anyone or anything else. It is odd then, that many atheists are physicists, studying the stars and constellations, cosmic radiation, or just nature in general. And because the “Heavens declare the glory of God” men are without excuse. They should be seeking God, trying to know Him, trying to do His will.
Of course, it’s complicated because without the Spirit, it’s impossible to please God, and He only seals a person (lives in them forever) when they come to know Jesus. Still, we are culpable for our actions, whether or not we know Jesus.
Still, I just love the first few verses of this psalm.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
I love it. When I was a kid, once a year we would get up at like.. 3 or 4 am? And watch the Leonid meteor shower. There were shooting stars everywhere, and stars have always been a symbol of my personal lexicon. Other people have fireflies, or lady bugs, or rainbows, or what not. The sound of cicadas is something that will always trigger memories for me, not all of them good.
So, in closing, Father, thank You for this night. Not a lot is going on. Guess we’ll put a pin in this thought, and see how it goes.
