Dear Father,
Thank you for this day. I sponsor a child through a charity, and we received several months ago a letter saying that we couldn’t share the gospel to our sponsored children. They are in countries where converting to Christianity is dangerous, but I felt like it affected my free speech. I don’t give to him because he is poor. I give to him because I know that if he has an education, he will have a chance at a better life. Still, how can you care about someone and not share the gospel?
So, in this post, we’re going to go over some “conversion verses” You’re probably already familiar with these.
!) John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, he gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life,”
2) ‘Jesus said,”I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no one comes to the Father but through me,”
Jesus is saying that the only way to access God (The Father) is through a relationship with himself (Jesus).
So if Jesus is the only access to the Father, then all the other religions must be wrong, if we affirm that Jesus is speaking the truth in that verse.
Jesus wasn’t a good teacher. He was a man who claimed to be God. Good teachers don’t die on a cross. They get tenure.
I think someone used the analogy that either Jesus is God, or believes He’s God but is crazy, or that he’s lying about all of it.
So, if he’s lying.. couldn’t he have recanted? He wouldn’t’ve gone to the cross. If He’s crazy? Well, my argument is to look at the fruit of His actions. He started the church, which has built hospitals, libraries, whole towns, given to the poor, been fundamental in the human rights movement, and changed the world in a million ways for the better.
Crazy people don’t do that. Crazy people sit in mental hospitals in catatonia, dreaming the dreams of the mad. Crazy people don’t function fully. I know crazy. I was diagnosed with bipolar. I’ve been in mental hospitals a few times. I’ve seen crazy. Jesus, from the writings of the gospels, was not crazy. And what about the miracles? There are no ancient texts refuting His miracles, no surviving texts that deny the resurrection, and if it had been false, there would have been plenty.
So, that’s my argument. There is one other key testimony that you should consider. Well, really, the testimony of every Christian is evidence. I’ll make it simple: I was angry and in despair before I knew Jesus. My soul was dry, and after coming to know Him, there was like a little pond in the bottom of my soul. The anger disappeared, and the despair was gone. Because of the change in my own heart (and much more evidence I can point to in my own life), I believe in Jesus.
So, do you turn to Jesus to access God? Or do you try to get to Him on your own? That choice is Yours. I’ve made mine, continue to make mine. There is no middle ground. Not deciding to accept Jesus until you.. get older, get the kids in church, whatever the reason, is rejecting Him.
God’s not going to force you to be with Him. He’s not going to force you to sing His praises for all eternity.
You choose where you end up. God will woo you, try to win Your heart, but He only does so for this life, or even less in some cases. Don’t waste this time. Use it to cry out to Jesus from you heart,
