Thank you for this day. Not a lot is going on. I’m kind of chilling out. Ch. left. He has one more thing to work on, and then he will be through. I’m feeling kind of drained, actually. Kind of tired. Well, maybe I can go to bed early tonight or something.
I was thinking about an order of prayer I do sometimes.
There are five parts to it, so, if you can count to five, you can probably memorize them.
1) Worship-We praise God for who He is, and what he’s done. Worship is different for everyone, but if you are glorifying him, worshiping him in spirit and in truth, you’re doing it right.
2) Confession-Not that we have to confess to another person, but that we confess our sins to God and he forgives us. Sometimes confessing to another person is good, but it’s not required.
3) Thanksgiving-We thank God for all He has done for us. We can’t count the stars or the sands on the seashore, but we have been abundantly blessed. There are 3000 promises in the bible, so many other things for which to be grateful.
4) Intercession-A very important part of prayer. We intercede with God on behalf of our family and friends, our neighbosr, the persecuted church, our nation, its leaders, the peace and prosperity of our city where we live, and the peace and prosperity of Jerusalem
5) Petition-This is the part where we ask for things for ourselves. Blessings, healing, strength, ask Him to fill us with His Spirit. This should not be first in our prayer during devotional, although at other times it may be urgent. Think of the Lord’s Prayer. “Thy Kingdom Come, Thy Will be Done,” and then “give us our daily bread”
God is at the center of the universe, not us, so our prayers should reflect that. However, this is just a suggestion. Hope that helps.
