Okay, so.. I already did my XTC post, but it was private, so I didn’t post it here. Some things don’t belong on the web. I’m reading the Big Eyes Small Mouth tabletop. It seems pretty complex, although it does have templates for characters. I was a little disappointed in the magical effects. They had maybe 10 spells. I get that once you are familiar with the system, you should make your own. I’m not that familiar, but I’m wondering if my understanding of tabletops is intuitive enough to create a hybrid homebrew/Trains of Thought system. Use ToT as the basis, and then develop material as we go along. The dice rolling in BESM is kind of weird. You roll two dice, then add your stat and attribute, and compare it against a target number (see difficulty class).
It can be as simple or as complex as you want it. Anime has a lot of genres, and although I feel Mutants and Masterminds is more versatile and a little easier to understand, I’m wondering if I can just use all my tabletop books (and all my fiction books and comics) as inspiration for my writing and comics. Realistically, I could have the protagonists take actions and roll dice myself. If I had their stats right, I would never have to reference a particular system like ToT, and as long as I had veto over the anticlimactic rolls, it might be okay.
